EP Climbing Leads the Way
The Division was born in 2002 when ABEO acquired EP Climbing, a French manufacturer of climbing walls and holds, and a pioneering brand that invented the concept of artificial climbing walls and holds in 1985. Committed to advancing and democratizing the sport, EP Climbing played a role in the creation of the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) before becoming its official supplier in 2020. When climbing became an Olympic discipline at the Tokyo Games in 2021, EP Climbing was chosen to equip the bouldering, lead, and speed events, a role it also fulfilled for Paris 2024, solidifying its status as a global leader in the climbing industry.
Sportainment for More Experiences
In 2015, ABEO acquired New Zealand-based Clip’n’Climb, a company offering centers that combine climbing with leisure activities. This marked the Group's entry into the world of Sportainment, where sport meets entertainment. Over time, this new dimension was enriched by the addition of Dock39 leisure centers (France), Climbat climbing centers (Spain), the US - based Fun Spot, specializing in trampoline parks, and the Indian design and project engineering agency Sportainment Engineering and Design (SED). Today, the expert and complementary brands within the Sportainment & Climbing Division design, manufacture, and distribute a wide range of tailored solutions to meet diverse needs and provide limitless experiences.
Focus on ACEP
ACEP is a production site of the Group specializing in the manufacturing of climbing walls and holds, located a few kilometers from Avilés in northwest Spain. Its 26 employees primarily produce for EP Climbing, with occasional projects for other ABEO companies.
Spanning over 2,500m², the facility features various workshops where advanced technologies meet artisanal expertise to bring custom projects to life, delivered turnkey to clients. These workshops include metal and wood structure fabrication for climbing walls, CNC cutting, an automated texturing and painting line, insert placement, and the production of macros (large fiberglass holds). Each step is crucial to delivering high-quality products that ensure the safety of end users. ACEP is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified.
What does ACEP stand for? "Ateliers Construction Entre-Prises," Entre-Prises being the former name of EP Climbing.
